Accessibility and Regulations for the Cultural Visit

The Basílica de Santa Maria del Mar is a place of worship classified as a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN). Visitors are kindly requested to maintain a respectful attitude towards the building so as not to interfere with its liturgical functions and to contribute to its preventive conservation. Please take note of the following guidelines:

– The cultural visit route may vary due to liturgical or cultural events taking place in the church. For further information, please consult the Basilica’s Mass Times and Pastoral Care by clicking aquí or the Events Calendar by clicking aquí.

– The cultural visit route is not fully accessible. Visitors must ascend and descend stairs to access the galleries, the crypt, the towers, and the roof terraces. Only the main nave of the church and the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament are accessible to persons with reduced mobility.

– Access to the towers and roof terraces is not permitted for children under 8 years of age. Minors (between 8 and 17 years of age) must be accompanied by an adult.

– Access to the towers and roof terraces is not recommended for persons with mobility impairments, cardiorespiratory conditions, and/or those who suffer from vertigo.

– Comfortable footwear is recommended. During the warmer months, visitors are advised to stay hydrated and to protect themselves from the sun.

– It is essential to follow at all times the instructions provided by the Basilica staff and the posted signage throughout the visit.

– Photography is permitted throughout the visit.

– In the event of adverse weather conditions, the Basílica de Santa Maria del Mar reserves the right to suspend access to the towers and roof terraces for safety reasons. Visitors may request a change of date or a refund.

– The Basilica reserves the right of admission to the cultural visit.
