Read moreDear Visitor,
You are standing in a XIV century building, possibly the finest example of Catalan Gothic architecture. The harmony of its proportions, the simplicity of its lines, and its openness to the light reveal a truly unique space.
This church was built—through the efforts and dedication of countless people—to gather the Christian community for the celebration of the liturgy, an essential element of our faith, under the protection of Our Lady. Over the centuries, generations of believers have prayed and celebrated their faith in this place, including saints such as Ignatius of Loyola, Francis Borgia, Vincent Ferrer, Joseph Oriol, and Anthony Mary Claret, as well as many distinguished figures from our history.
Yet this church is not merely a monument to a bygone age. Today, as in the past, it remains a living place in which the faith is celebrated in community. Alongside local parishioners, visitors from across Barcelona and around the world come here, continuing to draw near to God through community life and charity, through the liturgy, through music, and always through beauty, which is a sign of the supreme Beauty.
We hope that you may feel welcomed and inwardly moved by these stones, that you may recognise yourself as a pilgrim, and that, in silence, you may perceive the voice of the Eternal.
