The Escolania de Lluc (also known as the Blauets de Lluc) is a boys’ choir dedicated to the liturgical service of the Virgin Mary at the Sanctuary of Lluc. The members are known as Blauets because of the blue colour of their cassocks. It is the oldest musical institution in Mallorca and one of the oldest in Spain.
Its history dates back to the 13th century, although it was not until the 16th century that a formal choir of six boys was established. In 1892, secondary education was introduced and the institution became the minor seminary of the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts.
The Coral Sant Medir is a Catalan choral association founded in 1956 by musicians involved in the liturgical celebrations of the Parròquia de Sant Medir, located in the La Bordeta area of the Sants district in Barcelona.
Comprising around 160 singers aged between 3 and 80, it is organised into several choirs performing a wide variety of repertoires, including early music, traditional music, classical repertoire, pop and musical theatre. The choir is a member of Catalonia’s main choral federations, including the Federació Catalana d’Entitats Corals and the Secretariat de Corals Infantils de Catalunya.
