Date: 06/05/2025
Time: 8:15 p.m.
Venue: Basílica de Santa Maria del Mar
The Basílica de Santa Maria del Mar will host a significant musical event: The Music Chapel of Santa Maria del Mar will present its first concert since its re-establishment in 2022. This performance will conclude the 2025 edition of the concert series “The Sea Organ”, which, now in its second season, is already establishing itself as one of the city’s leading musical series.
The programme, entitled Meines Herzens Trost: Death and Consolation in Seventeenth-Century Germany, offers a journey through German sacred vocal Baroque music, featuring works by Johann Michael Bach, Johann Hermann Schein, Heinrich Schütz, Johann Christoph Bach, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Samuel Scheidt, Johann Rosenmüller and Johann Sebastian Bach. This deeply expressive, sensitive and profoundly spiritual repertoire reflects the concerns and needs of a society marked by war, constantly seeking consolation through faith.
The instrumental accompaniment will include theorbo (Mariana Santos), double bass (Alberto Jara) and organ (Joan Seguí, who will direct the ensemble from the keyboard).
Tickets may be purchased at the Basilica during visiting hours or online for €15. Reduced rates are available for young people, students, unemployed persons, and large or single-parent families.
